I hope I am in the correct forum. I am using 15' Flat Panel iMac and Mac OS 10.3.4 (Panther). In 1998 I used a Visioneer VX Scanner with a Mac using OS 8.1 or 8.5 to scan family documents (birth certificates, mother's will etc.) to a hard drive, but I understand that Visioneer stopped Mac support several years ago. I would like to pass all these documents on to my children and grandchildren by putting them on a CD so they can open them and either print them of just to look at them, they are mostly legal documents. Some use Mac others use PC. My question is how can I open these documents? Does any one know of any software that can be used? Does Visioneer have any software that is compatible with Mac OS X? I have tried using MacLink Plus, but that doesn't work. I now use an Epson Perfection 2400 Photo scanner, but I am trying to avoid having to scan everything all over again, some of these documents are almost 100 pages long, and usually on legal size paper. It may work with Mac OS 9, but I would have to install 9, which frankly I have not used in a couple of years. Thanks for any help.

Hi Roger I haven't used any OCR and document management software, myself. However, to find Mac OS X software you would do well to search the following websites, using search terms like 'ocr', 'optical character recognition' etc. http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx/ http://www.macupdate.com/ http://guide.apple.com/index.lasso The former two sites provide user feedback that can help you to choose. I recommend reading as much user feedback as possible and not just the most recent two or three. Hope this helps. Matthew Whiting
